Pencil sketch of Plainfield Academy in Plainfield, Connecticut. Sketch of a building with a cupola and weathervane atop a slight hill with a stone fence and trees. At upper left within a pencil frame is a separate sketch of a one-story wooden house set in a landscape of hills and trees. Beneath it, at lower left is a sketch of the interior of a room. At upper right are five variations of the artist's signature. Inscribed in pencil on the reverse is: "Plainfield ^CT.^ Academy".
The artist's grandfather, Rinaldo Burleigh, taught at Plainfield Academy and served as its principal. Charles Burleigh, Jr. lived in Plainfield, Connecticut from 1849 to 1861.
