Bonnet used as a prop for sitters of the artist, Charles C. Burleigh, Jr. (1848-1882).
Bonnet made of black fabric with black gros-grain ribbons at the sides and back. The sewn-in back of the bonnet is made of black corduroy fabric with a repeating geometric pattern embroidered in purple, green, orange and white. Detachable back inset made of black plush fabric decorated with seed beads in gold, green, navy and turquoise. Trimmed with a purple and black lace ruffle adorned with gold beads and five velvet floral decorations. Inside ticking fabric is made of blue and white check material.
